Getting started
Pivot & Roll-up Reports turns a list of Jira issues into a table you can slice any way you like: epics by status, people by week, story points by sprint. Totals roll up the hierarchy, so an initiative shows everything under it.
Open the app
In Jira, open Apps in the sidebar and choose Pivot & Roll-up Reports. You land on the home page, which gives you five ways in:
- Ask AI: describe the report in a sentence, e.g. “story points and % done per epic in ALPHA”. See Ask AI for a report.
- Open a saved report: yours, your favourites and reports shared with you.
- Start from a template: sprint progress, epic burn-up, velocity, cycle time, weekly worklog recap, capacity plan and blocked work.
- Build step by step: pick projects, narrow the issues, then choose how to group them and what to measure.
- Blank report: write JQL and build the layout yourself.
Your most recent reports are listed underneath, favourites first.
Your first report in a minute
- Choose Blank report.
- Under Issues, enter JQL such as
project = ALPHAand press Run. You can also pick a saved filter or a sprint. See Choosing issues. - Choose Edit layout, then add Epic to Rows and Status category to Columns. Click a field to see + Rows, + Columns and + Filters, or drag it.
- Add Story points to Values. Every cell is now the story points for that epic and status.
- Click any number to see the issues behind it.
- Press Save, give the report a name, and use Share to let others see it.
What you see on a report
- The header: the name, Save, Save a copy, Share, the ☆ favourite star and Delete.
- The AI box: change the report in words, e.g. “split by sprint” or “only bugs”.
- Issues: the JQL, saved filter or sprint the report runs on.
- Layout: a one-line summary; Edit layout opens rows, columns, values, filters, the date range and options.
- Views: pivot, issue tree, chart, timesheet and capacity. See Views and charts.
- A summary of the issues by status, type and assignee, and things to check, such as work past its due date. See Checks and drill-downs.
- The table, with Excel, CSV and Print / PDF above it.
Everyone sees their own numbers
Reports always run with the permissions of the person viewing them. If you share a report with someone who can’t see a project, its issues simply aren’t in their numbers.
